I've got a Jaguar XJS in the workshop fitted with 5.3L V12 engine+auto gearbox. She came to me ,cause the owner discovered rust underneath on sills and floor panel, and on rear lower quarters. She has a LISTER body kit fitted, which is covering the sills and the rear quartes,so we agreed with the owner I have to remove it to see properly how bad is the corrosion, and what we have to do. I started to remove the body kit and and reveal what's behind... Let see: I've seen worst, but it was bad enough... The body kit was fitted with expanding foam, which is kept the water and made it worst. I have to remove the font wings as well, cause there is a lot of rust behind, and the front lower quarters are rusty as well. We agreed with the owner what we have to do...The restoration began...
To do the welding and repair safely and properly on the body , I have to remove the full interior . This is the best to prevent to get any damage on the interior, and she will get a complete respray, and we do not want to get any overspray on the parts. Continue soon.... I'm pushing it hard to get it finished... Repairs on the back panel... Passenger door... Back soon...
I've still got quite a lot to do....lets do it! The owner decided the vehicle has to be fitted with seats from a later model,so i need to work out what kind of modification has to be done to get the seats in. The driver seat need to be bolted on a square base, which can be good to keep some tools etc. under the seat. I have to make new fixing points for the double seat as well but first i have to finish with the passenger side of the cabin.door step, floor panel... Now it's time for those fixing points... The floor panel completed... Continue soon...
